West arthur & Wagin

Lacour are progressing feasibility studies for potential wind farm developments around the southern region of the South West Interconnected System (SWIS), across the Shires of West Arthur and Wagin

This area is expected to enable access for supplying power into the Western Power electricity network. We are progressing studies for potential wind farm developments of up to approximately 1000 MW capacity. Any development would likely be progressed in stages to allow for the ongoing development of the network in the area.

Current workstreams underway include:

    • Wind monitoring and resource characterisation

    • Project definition development

    • Preliminary stakeholder engagement

As the development process progresses, we will engage with stakeholders in a manner consistent with industry practice to build understanding of the project and any potential impacts as well as seek input on the development concept. Later in the development process, neighbours will be contacted and engagement with council and the community on the proposed design will begin.

community

Lacour is focussed on building genuine, lasting relationships with communities and looking after their local environment

Once the initial design of a proposed project is progressed and shared with hosts and neighbours, we will commence engagements with the council and community. As the development process progresses, we will engage in a manner consistent with industry practice to build understanding of the project and any potential impacts, as well as seek input on the development concept.

A key part of engaging with the community is to understand potential local employment and economic opportunities associated with construction and operations. We aim to engage with local businesses as the project progresses.

We anticipate ongoing consultation through project development, construction and operation phases. Noting that, over time, the needs of the community may evolve as may the potential opportunities associated with the proposed wind farm.
